How to Set Yourself Up for Success in 2025—By Taking Care of What Matters Most… YOU!
Well, 2025 sure started with a bang. Between the California fires raging and the flu making its rounds through my entire family, the fresh start I had envisioned for the new year didn’t exactly go as planned.
But you know what? That’s life. And one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that we don’t have to wait for a new year, a new month, or even a new week to reset.
We can reinvent ourselves at any moment. Every single day is an opportunity to choose differently.
So instead of making this another year where you put yourself last, let’s flip the script. Let’s make 2025 the year you take care of what matters most—yourself. And in doing so, set yourself up for real, sustainable success.
Step 1: Define What Success Actually Means to YOU
Before you set any goals for the year, take a moment to ask yourself:
• What do I really want more of in my life?
• What do I want less of?
• What would make me feel truly successful—not just in my career or family life, but as a whole person?
Maybe success means having more peace and less pressure. Maybe it’s having the energy to actually enjoy your free time instead of just recovering from burnout. Maybe it’s feeling connected to yourself again, instead of always being in go-mode.
When you define success on your terms, you stop chasing external validation and start building a life that actually feels good.
Step 2: Protect Your Energy Like It’s Your Most Valuable Resource (Because It Is)
Let’s be real—2024 might have left you feeling drained. And if you don’t protect your energy in 2025, you’ll find yourself in the same cycle of burnout.
Here’s how to shift that:
• Set boundaries early. If you don’t want to check emails after work, don’t wait until March to start enforcing that. Start now.
• Say no without guilt. If something doesn’t align with your priorities, give yourself permission to decline it.
• Prioritize rest like you prioritize work. Your body and mind need recovery time. Schedule it like a non-negotiable meeting.
Step 3: Invest in the Small Things That Refill Your Cup
Taking care of yourself doesn’t have to mean big, extravagant vacations or spa days (though those are great, too). It’s the little daily rituals that make the biggest difference.
Here’s what’s keeping me sane right now:
📺 Binge-watch a feel-good show—Right now, I’m counting down the days until Love is Blind drops its new season on Valentine’s Day.
☕ Treat yourself to a cozy drink—Lately, I’ve been making homemade chai lattes with almond milk (Trader Joe’s sells the BEST chai concentrate!).
🎙️ Let your mind be blown by a great podcast—If you haven’t already, go listen to Jay Shetty and Mel Robbins talk about The Let Them Theory. It’s a game-changer when it comes to letting go of what we think we need to control.
It’s not about fitting in self-care—it’s about making it part of your life in ways that feel good to you.
Step 4: Make Room for What Actually Matters
It’s easy to fill your calendar with obligations, but what about the things that actually make life meaningful?
• Block out time for the people and activities that bring you joy.
• Make space for rest and creativity, not just productivity.
• Be intentional about how you spend your time, so you’re not just busy—you’re fulfilled.
Success isn’t about how much you can do. It’s about how aligned you feel with what you’re doing.
Step 5: Get the Support You Need to Thrive
If you’ve spent past years trying to do it all on your own, let 2025 be the year you invest in support.
Coaching gives you a space to reflect, reset, and create a plan that works for you. It’s not about adding more to your plate—it’s about making sure what’s on your plate actually serves you.
